– "Your dreams are only awake if you are... never give up!"
I was on my way to see my folks over the weekend, and overheard a fellow passenger's conversation regarding how unhappy they were with their workplace and why they felt the need to be on vacation. Coincidentally, I had been reading about severe weather conditions not too long ago, and how it impacted my friends on the opposite coast and around the world. Most of them were extremely psyched to stay home or take the day off from work. I am a big advocate for personal days. Back in the days we (my coworkers and I) would joke about how people needed to take "mental health days" or "personal healing days" (LOL!). We browse, shop, watch TV shows and movies, read, etc. Human interaction with devices and machines is at its peak these days. And yet we find it extremely difficult to keep track of all activities performed on any given day. There seems to be a lack of continuity and consistency in our interaction and experiences. This is where good UX comes to play.
These days every other person I speak to is having a baby. Don't get me wrong! I love kids. I am thrilled and ecstatic for all the new parents-to-be! I find it rather bothersome when the entire conversation revolves around fears of being new parents, and what an ordeal it is to raise kids.
